Destination Liverpool is set to unveil its new initiative aimed at international conference organisers during IMEX Frankfurt.
Plus Liverpool provides support for clients looking to bring their global events to the city and ACC Liverpool, home to BT Convention Centre, Echo Arena and Exhibition Centre Liverpool.
ACC Liverpool, working in partnership with Liverpool Convention Bureau and the Liverpool Hoteliers Association, is able to co-ordinate a range of value added services for international clients including organising delegate transfers and welcomes, marketing support, civic receptions and bursaries.
Kerrin MacPhie, director of sales at ACC Liverpool, said: “While the destination has always provided support to our international conference organisers, Plus Liverpool packages our partnership approach to working with organisers and making their event as seamless as possible.
“Some aspects of organising a global conference can be challenging, particularly with clients and delegates based overseas, but through this programme we are able to share the combined experience of our destination partners to invest in the event by providing support in a variety of ways.
“Every congress is different and we appreciate that support will mean different things to every event organiser. For example, we can assist in growing delegate and exhibitor numbers; maximise opportunities by co-ordinating access to a range of destination services and resources and above all provide a memorable experience and welcome in Liverpool.”
Kate Currie, Liverpool Convention Bureau manager, said: “Conference organisers tell us that one of the key elements in choosing Liverpool is the extra service they receive to make their event run as smoothly as possible.
“In an increasingly competitive market, taking the time to listen to a client’s needs and tailor something for them is a simple yet effective move for us. Plus Liverpool develops these services and will make it even easier for organisers, who will know they can trust us to do the leg work for them.”
The initiative follows news that the city’s international connectivity will be enhanced after Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, announced that it will start operating a new route between Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport later this year.
MacPhie added: “Expanding routes from LJLA to major hubs such as Amsterdam will provide us with many more opportunities to connect globally and boost the city’s connectivity. Initiatives such as this, and Plus Liverpool, provide significant steps in attracting more major international conferences and making it easier than ever to host an event in Liverpool.”
The Liverpool team will unveil Plus Liverpool on theVisit England Pavilion F340 during IMEX Frankfurt at 3pm on Tuesday May 19.
