BANGKOK, May 19, 2015 — The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) will hold the 38th PATA Travel Mart 2015 in Bangalore, Karnataka, India on September 6-8, 2015 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC). The Mart is being generously hosted by the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka.

Bangalore, or officially known as Bengaluru, is the capital city of Karnataka in South India. Bangalore is a city of contrasts, going by several aliases: India’s Silicon Valley, Pub City, Shopper’s Paradise, garden City, Air-Conditioned City and Gourmet’s Delight. The city not only plays host to several international information technology companies, reputed educational and research institutions, public sector enterprises and defence organisations, but also lays claim to being the hub of India’s biotech industry.

PATA CEO Mario Hardy said, ““We are excited for PATA Travel Mart to be returning to India, having successfully held Marts in Hyderabad in 2008 and New Delhi in 2011. This year’s event will showcase both the rich cultural heritage and high-tech features of the city of Bangalore in the state of Karnataka. Besides the exhibition, we are planning many other exciting side events attached to the Mart for a week long celebration of travel and tourism in the region.”

The Honourable Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, R. V. Deshpande, added, “It is a great opportunity for Karnataka to host PATA 2015 event in Bengaluru, Silicon Valley of India. I am sure every delegate would enjoy their stay in Bengaluru and will have an opportunity to visit wonderful tourist spots in Karnataka. The State has so much to offer be it heritage, wild life, beaches, hill stations and temples. I am sure this event will bring Bengaluru on the global map of Travel and Tour Industry. I take this opportunity to welcome all the delegates to this beautiful garden city.”

PATA Travel Mart (PTM) is the Association’s signature event and Asia Pacific’s premier travel trade show, featuring unparalleled networking and contracting opportunities to help travel and tourism organisations access decision makers, meet new clients, expand their network and build or maintain existing relationships.

Besides the Mart, PTM 2015 will also include the Tourism Investment Forum, the Travel Technology Conference in partnership with Phocuswright, and PTM Talks. Furthermore, in addition to the Responsible Travel Pavilion introduced at PTM in Cambodia last year, this year’s Mart will feature a Technology Pavilion providing a business platform for travel technology professionals to feature their products and services to both PATA members and travel industry stakeholders.

PTM attracts more than 1,000 delegates from over 60 countries for the three day event, facilitating over 10,000 pre-matched appointments and bringing together qualified international buyers and sellers for face-to-face meetings, educational forums and networking functions.
