Starting from June 1, holders of UnionPay cards (card number starting with 62) can visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, for free by presenting their UnionPay cards, UnionPay International announced on May 25.
The Metropolitan Museum is the latest of the many prestigious museums that offer UnionPay cardholders with exclusive privileges.
From June 1, 2015 to May 31, 2016, UnionPay cardholders can get one free pass (The Museum’s recommended admission price is $25) at the Museum’s admissions desks by presenting their UnionPay credit card and valid ID. The Museum, located at 82nd Street & Fifth Avenue, is one of the world’s leading art museums, with a collection spanning more than 5,000 years of world culture. Visitors may also use their UnionPay cards for other amenities throughout the Museum, including additional admissions.
As one of the most popular tourist destinations in New York, the Museum welcomed more than 6.2 million visitors last year, with tourists from China comprising the largest group of foreign visitors. UnionPay is not only the preferred payment brand for outbound Chinese tourists, but is also gaining popularity among consumers in Asia and other regions.
