Performing at the event are The National Cultural Dance Troupe of Seychelles and the Breeze Band, both of whom will take the audience on a journey during the evening showcasing the history and culture for which the island is famous.

World Travel Awards president Graham Cooke said: “It has been a long-held dream for World Travel Awards to visit Seychelles. Now, in our 22nd year, this dream is finally coming true.”

He added: “Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare is the perfect place to host our annual Gala Ceremony and I look forward to welcoming all our nominees to this fantastic destination.”

World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.

Today, the WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.

Each year WTA covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognise and celebrate individual and collective successes within each key geographical region.

Alain St.Ange, Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism & Culture, said: “Seychelles is proud to be hosting the prestigious World Travel Awards African & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2015 at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort on Saturday, June 20th.

“This is a fine example of Africa doing for Africa, and the Vanilla Islands doing for the Vanilla Islands, a concept that I have long held dear, and this is an excellent example of this process in action.”
