The ITB Academy features new webinars on the latest topics, including China’s travel market, the sharing economy and human rights – tourism managers can register and take part free of charge
For anyone interested in tourism the ITB Academy webinars are an opportunity to gain extra knowledge quickly and in comfort while sitting at one’s desk. The online seminars of ITB Berlin feature new information and examples of best practices from a variety of tourism related sectors such as the sharing economy, human rights in tourism and China’s travel market. Participation in the webinars, which will be held in English, is open to anyone interested in tourism and is free of charge.
On 16 September at 10 a.m. a webinar will take place entitled ’Keeping pace with the Chinese outbound tourism source market’. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, director of the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI), will have information on the latest market developments, the changing needs of Chinese tourists, and trends. The topic of ’The sharing economy – changing travel demands and how to capitalise’ will be the focus of the webinar on 30 September at 11 a.m. Wouter Geerts, a travel analyst with Euromonitor International, will talk about the major challenges that await the conventional travel industry and present the latest market data on the sharing economy.
The ITB Academy webinar entitled ’EU funding for the tourism sector in 2016’ promises helpful information on a complex subject. On 1 October at 10 a.m. Pierre-Étienne Métais, an EU project manager and trainer/consultant with emcra GmbH, will provide a basic overview of EU funding, the necessary requirements, and a step-by-step guide on how to improve one’s chances of successfully obtaining funds. On 14 October at 10 a.m., by taking Suntec Singapore as the ideal example of a connected venue, Arun Madhok, CEO of Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Services, will illustrate how modern technology can be used at conference and trade fair centres to gain an advantage over competitors.
On 12 November at 10 a.m. a webinar will take place on ’Human Rights in Tour Operators’ Practice’. Cathrine Schwenoha, Naturfriends International, Ruth Hopfer-Kubsch, Studiosus, and Sibylle Baumgartner, Kuoni, the members of the round table on Human Rights in Tourism, will present their joint management concept on human rights responsibilities, provide an insight into their strategies, and share their practical experiences with those taking part in the webinars.
Im November, at the ITB Berlin exhibitor webinar, exhibitors at ITB Berlin 2016 will receive valuable tips on show preparations and stand organisation. Exhibitors will be sent advance information and invitations.
