Cathay Life Taiwan Summit the latest to be secured

New South Wales (NSW) Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres, today announced that up to A$113 million of corporate incentive events have been secured by Business Events Sydney (BESydney) for 2016 and 2017. This follows today’s announcement that Cathay Life Taiwan Summit has been secured for 2016.

“Up to $113 million has been secured for NSW by BESydney through incentive events in 2016 and 2017, providing an important boost for the NSW economy. Groups secured include Nu Skin Greater China Success Trip 2016, Amway China Leadership Seminar 2017 and Cathay Life Taiwan Summit 2016, which is expected to bring 2,200 delegates to Sydney, staying for five days and four nights,” Mr Ayres said.

BESydney CEO, Lyn Lewis-Smith, today confirmed the strong forward pipeline of events.

“This year BESydney has secured incentive events for NSW, spanning sectors including insurance, technology, finance, automotive, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and direct selling. I’m pleased that Cathay Life Taiwan Summit delegates will visit our shores in May 2016 as a reward for top sales agents who have achieved their targets. Their visit will support local jobs in our hotels, restaurants and shops,” Ms Lewis-Smith said.

Cathay Life Taiwan, Senior Executive Vice President, Shan-Chi Liu confirmed the decision.

“The Cathay Life team works hard to reach and exceed their sales targets and their reward will be an exciting trip to the vibrant city of Sydney. NSW has amazing nature and iconic landmarks that our delegates will enjoy experiencing alongside world-class shopping and cultural attractions.”

“Our Summits have been held in Japan and China the last couple of years and it’s time to bring our wonderful team of insurance professionals back to Australia,” Mr Liu said.

Destination NSW CEO, Sandra Chipchase, said, “Sydney has beaten fierce international competition to win the Cathay Life Taiwan Summit, which returns to NSW after more than 10 years. Securing this Summit for Sydney demonstrates the success of BESydney and Destination NSW’s combined efforts to promote the strengths and unique attractions that make Sydney one of the world’s leading destinations for business events and conventions.”
