Heathrow wins “2015 Airport of the Year” title at the Independent Travel Awards

Described as ‘Best in the World’ by the Independent Travel Award panel, Heathrow topped other world class airports including Changhi Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as UK airports London City and Manchester to claim the prestigious Airport of the Year award.

The Independent Travel Awards collated the shortlist from thousands of public votes and an expert panel of 10 judges selected the winners. The judges described the UK’s only hub airport as “beating all comers,” acknowledging Heathrow’s successful opening of Terminal 2 and closure of Terminal 1 in the last 18 months, “all while extracting more capacity than any other two-runway airport in the world”.

This follows Heathrow’s £11bn investment programme and marks the step change the airport is working towards to become the best in the world. The award is also testament to the excellent service delivered by staff to the 73.4 million passengers passing through each year.
