The Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC) will welcome the rising stars of the Queensland hospitality industry when it hosts a special masterclass today, as part of an initiative by the Queensland Hotel and Hospitality School and its industry partners.

The new International Hospitality Service Program, supported by the Royal ICC, has been designed to give students hands on experience while learning skills that will enhance their ability to obtain employment in this rapidly developing industry.

The Royal ICC will kick off the program today with a beer, wine and cellaring masterclass. Students will learn about the importance of knowing their Shiraz from Chardonnay, how to pair food with wine and beer and how to correctly store wine in a cellar.

RNA Chief Executive Brendan Christou said the Royal ICC was dedicated to supporting the Queensland hospitality industry’s next generation.

“We are really looking forward to hosting these students from the Queensland Hotel and Hospitality School and give them the opportunity to learn from our highly skilled team,” Mr Christou said.

“The Royal ICC is dedicated to providing the best of the best for our customers so it’s a fantastic opportunity for our staff to pass their knowledge on to the next generation.”

This exclusive program has been developed to teach students frontline food and beverage service skills for work in luxury venues. As part of the program, students will undertake work experience with Brisbane’s leading hotels and convention centres, including the Royal ICC.

The Royal ICC is located 1.5km from Brisbane’s CBD at the Brisbane Showgrounds, one of the city’s most prominent events precincts. For more information about the Royal ICC click here http://www.royalicc.com.au/
