The Kent Event Centre’s parent charity, the Kent County Agricultural Society (KCAS) has launched a Higher Education Scholarship Scheme. The scheme offers financial assistance to agricultural students residing in the county of Kent. Successful candidates will be eligible for up to £1,000 per year and for up to three years of study.
KCAS will choose three candidates between the ages of 18 and 25 taking part in higher education or a university degree within the Land-based Sector. Candidates will be able to use the funding towards any costs they may have during their course.
Kevin Attwood, KCAS Chairman, says: “KCAS’ charitable objectives are incredibly important and each year we support many different organisations and individuals to help raise awareness within farming and the rural sector. Higher Education is hugely expensive today and awarding a sum of money that can be spent to alleviate the financial burden was important to all members of the Society’s Education and Farming Committee.”
The Kent Event Centre was founded in 1991 as the commercial arm of the Kent County Agricultural Society as a dedicated conference and events venue. The site is the largest conference facility in Kent offering 7,000sqm of indoor space along with 200 acres of outdoor space and parking for 30,000 vehicles. KCAS organises a number of agricultural events at the venue including the premier Kent County Show, Agri-Expo and the Heritage Transport Show. Supporting local agricultural initiatives demonstrates The Kent Event Centre’s corporate and social responsibility.
The Kent Event Centre’s Manager, Alison Wallington, says: “The Kent Event Centre is delighted that the charitable arm has launched such a worthwhile scheme. The land based sector needs graduates to join the industry and it is important for us as a charity to help raise the profile of the land based sector and support young people.”
