Anne Wallin Rødven, former Convention Director of VisitOSLO was presented with the ibtm world 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Meetings Leadership Summit (www.ibtmworld.com), which took place at the El Born Centre Cultural on Monday, November 16th.
Rødven was recognised for her significant contribution to the meetings and events industry. Presenting the award, Graeme Barnett, Reed Travel Exhibitions, Senior Exhibition Director commented, “As many of my female colleagues tell me, it is a rare celebration in this industry when we can see the proverbial glass ceiling being smashed. This award recognizes the huge impact of one woman who has devoted 25 years of her career to not only shattering that glass ceiling but to putting the City of Oslo at the heart of Norway’s meetings and conventions industry. “
Rødven commented on receiving the award, “It is a great honour for me to receive the prestigeous ibtm world Lifetime Achievement Award, and looking at the previous recipients make me even more humble. My career in this wonderful meetings industry has been rewarding in itself and I leave it with many good memories and good friends. ibtm world has been an important part of my whole career, and has enabled me, on behalf of my beloved city Oslo, to have interesting encounters with colleagues, competitors and clients from all over the world. To meet face-to-face is more important than ever. Building trust and growing networks based on conversation and smiles adds tremendous value to a world where we increasingly communicate sitting behind screens, so targeted B2B tradeshows will continue to play an important role.”
