Seminars for business travel managers and everyone in business travel – opportunities for establishing important leads – Home of Business Travel by ITB & VDR is the place to meet – visitors receive attendance certificates – special travel package for travel and event managers

Business trips are an important economic factor in the travel industry. From 9 to 11 March 2016 the ITB Business Travel Days will offer everyone working in the business travel market an ideal platform for networking. At ITB Berlin 2016, at this three-day event for industry professionals, practical workshops with up-to-the-minute information on methods and strategies will provide both career newcomers and experienced travel managers with first-hand knowledge and updates. Attendance certificates will be issued on request. ITB trade visitor and exhibitor passes grant automatic admission to all lectures and workshops.

On 10 March, at the Business Travel Corporate Day, lectures will focus on ’Digitisation in mobility management – a worthwhile connection?’ Among the key headings will be ’Adapt or die – what does digitisation actually mean for travel and event management?’ and power apps that are an integral part of corporate software. The participants will examine whether the path of innovation really is a success factor at the workplace or whether the lure of technology is a dead end. Another discussion round will look at the following topic: ’Cutting business trip and meeting costs to the max – is there still potential or are we at the limit?’ Experts will highlight the available opportunities, realistic targets and at what stage cost-cutting becomes counterproductive. A debate will also take place on whether scaling back strategic travel and event management makes it still viable.

In his paper under the heading of ’Mobility strategy 2020’ Michael Müller, senior director and head of Mobility & Facilities, Daiichi Sankyo Europe GmbH and TIC Travel Manager 2015, will highlight an example of best practices. His global pharmaceutical company has put together a mobility concept that gives employees free choice of transportation and rewards transport that is eco-friendly and promotes health. If, following vehicle use, or any transport alternatives, there are funds left over, then these can be spent on a list of compensation and benefits services or for selected private purposes. Another question being asked is whether business trips produce calculable returns. Initial studies in collaboration with leading companies have revealed promising results.

At a workshop, Anne-Katrin Schulz, head of Corporate Communications and Marketing of Bund der Auslands-Erwerbstätigen (BDAE) will talk about ’Sending workers abroad – how to properly organise business trips’. She will examine the legal aspects of social insurance and highlight how strict guidelines not only provide a framework for handling trips abroad but can also avoid conflicts. The MICE workshops on 11 March will be looking at how to use gamification tools to influence the online booking behaviour of business travellers, as well as examining organisational guidelines and MICE booking portals.

The ’Home of Business Travel by ITB & VDR’ provides visitors with a relaxing atmosphere where they can meet and exchange knowledge. This exclusive meeting place offers travel and event managers, young employees, buyers and office professionals from around the world an opportunity to find out about available professional management services during and after their business trip. It is also an opportunity to cultivate existing business relations and establish new contacts. The ’Home of Business Travel’ also makes it easy for visitors to update their knowledge, as this dedicated exhibition is organised directly with the lectures and discussion rounds of the ITB Business Travel Days.
