Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), owner of Lord’s Cricket Ground announced that the venue will host the 2016 Cross Sports Book Awards for the third year running.

The major annual event for the promotion of sports writing and publishing will take place on 1st June 2016. Sports personalities and industry professionals will attend the ceremony in the Nursery Pavilion at Lord’s, with audiences at home being able to follow the event on Sky Sports. A vast array of sporting greats have been shortlisted for accolades, including footballer Steven Gerrard, jockey A.P. McCoy, cricketers Andrew Flintoff and Phil Tufnell and racing driver Nigel Mansell.

Nick Kenton, Head of Sales at MCC, said: “It is a real honour to see an event as prestigious as the Cross Sports Book Awards returning to Lord’s for the third year in a row. With our sporting heritage, the awards are clearly a great match for us and I look forward to hosting an exciting line-up of sporting heroes.”

Commenting on the awards, David Willis, Chairman of the Cross Sports Book Awards, adds: “Our 2016 longlist is once again packed with sporting greats. Two England captains, a former England Manager, a Formula One legend and the most successful jockey of his generation.”
