Daniel Waigl, AC Forum President, comments on why Copenhagen was chosen as the host city:
“Copenhagen is known as a world-class congress destination, providing good infrastructure and the required logistical services for both small and large events. It is a safe and attractive city, home to strong life science and clean tech industries, both being of specific interest to our member associations. Many of us have already successfully staged a congress in Copenhagen or plan to do so in the years to come.”
Some of the important congresses that members of AC Forum have already held or are about to hold in Copenhagen include the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) Offshore 2015, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2016 Congress, and the Congress of European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) 2016.
Aside from the professional programme unfolded at Bella Sky Hotel, the delegates will also be introduced to what Copenhagen has to offer as a congress destination, including a guided Canal Tour of Copenhagen, a food tour and Nordic cuisine tasting at the city’s Market halls and visits to the former brewery Carlsberg Byen, and a tour of Scandinavia’s largest convention center, the Bella Center.
The delegates will also attend a gala dinner at Copenhagen City Hall, where Mayor of Culture & Leisure, Carl Christian Ebbesen, will welcome them, and where they will be joined by a number of prominent local guests.
Wonderful Copenhagen looks forward to hosting the delegates, and Convention Director, Jonas Wilstrup, comments:
“AC Forum is a key event that gives Copenhagen a unique opportunity to showcase what we have to offer as a congress destination, both practically and strategically. 2016 will be our busiest congress year ever, and AC Forum is a platform that enables us to leverage Copenhagen as a congress destination in the years to come.”
The 2016 Annual Meeting of the Association and Conference Forum was secured to Copenhagen by a collective effort from Wonderful Copenhagen Convention Bureau and BC Hospitality Group.
What makes Copenhagen an attractive host city?
Copenhagen is ranked one of the most popular congress cities in the world byICCA and is easy and safe to reach and navigate in. It is a knowledge hub, where some of the strong points are within the life science and clean tech industries, and the city invests heavily in development of these particular fields.
The area just north of Copenhagen is nicknamed ‘Medicon Valley’ due to an abundance of medical businesses being headquartered here.
