Winter sports tourism is changing. For some time now, winter sports destinations have no longer been competing only amongst each other. They are having to confront criticism and the impact of climate change as well as a new trend, that of ‘summer holidays in winter’. For the first time ’Your winter. Your sport’ – an initiative launched by the DSV, DSLV and SVD – will be taking place at ITB Berlin. On Friday, 11 March, in Hall 4.1, high-ranking tourism experts and famous winter sports athletes will be debating the challenge of ensuring winter sports tourism in the future and of bringing young people and snow together.

After a welcome address by ITB head David Ruetz, Prof. Ralf-Dieter Roth (Institut für Natursport und Ökologie Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln) will give an introductory paper on ’The future of winter sports tourism’. Afterwards, a discussion will take place under the heading of ‘Winter sports tourism is changing’.

Your sport.), and Prof. Hubert J. Siller (department head of Tourismus Management Center, Innsbruck).

‘How do we bring kids and snow together?’ is the title of the second discussion round. Besides Michaela Gerg (former skiing athlete) and Miriam Vogt (World Alpine skiing champion), both patrons of ’Your winter. Your sport.’, those taking part in the panel discussion will include Thomas Bartel (managing director, SnowTrex), Jörn Knissel (authorised signatory, alpetour Touristische GmbH) and Kristina Oehler (authorised signatory, ruf Reisen).
