Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre, FIBES,has inaugurated the 6th European Chemistry Congress, EuCheMS, during an opening session chaired by the Head of Junta de Andalucía’s Employment, Enterprise and Commerce Department, José Sánchez Maldonado and the Deputy Mayor of Seville’s Town Council,Carmen Castreño Lucas, among others.
This Congress, held in Spainfor the first time and receiving 2,500European experts onthe subject, has become the biggest European event of the chemistrycommunity where the most relevant progress in the field is discussed.EuCheMswilltransform Seville into the world’s crucial point of Chemistry forfive days.
We should point out the plenarylectures given by prominent figures asrenowned as Richard Schrock, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2005; AvelinoColma, Príncipe de Asturias Award in Research and ScientificTechnique 2014; Ada Yonath, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009; Jean-MarieLehn, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1987; Nazario Martín, from MadridComplutense University, in memory of Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1996,Harry Kroto, etc.
EuCheMsis the proper meeting point to promote collaboration and exchange ofknowledge as the convergence place among the different sectors of theindustry (academics, young graduates, professionals and executives).
The chosen themes,of extreme relevance to the present moment, to be discussed will beabout: Materials, Challenges and Nanochemistry; Catalysis, Industryand Applications; Environment, Energy and Sustainability; Educationand Society; New Chemical Components: Synthesis, Methods andIndustrial Processes; etc.
The Scientific Committee also stands out for the high level. Thepapers and lectures will be given by well-regarded scientists withworldwide recognition, as well as the aforementioned Nobel Prizewinners. Besides the lectures and simultaneous events, the Congresswill also have an exhibition area with more than 50 companies.Finally, the Honour Committee, chaired by the King of Spain, will becomposed of relevant persons of the political, academic as well asbusiness spheres.
The Congress, fostered by ANQUE, Spanish National Association ofChemists, has the support of Institutions and Companies such asAndalucía’s Regional Government, the Spanish Ministry of Economyand Competitiveness, Repsol, Cepsa, the Royal Society of Chemistry,ASC, Chemistry for Life, etc.
This September, FIBES and Seville, hosting this big Congress as well as others, contribute with certainsectors which are directly linked to the travel and tourism activity such as hotels, shops, taxis, public transport, catering, etc.Although September is a difficult month to organize big events, this year, with two great congress meetings, the city has attracted around 4,000 visitors in two weeks.
Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre, along with the relevant collaboration of Seville Town Council, will still keep a leadingposition in the list of international venues hosting and organizing great congresses.
