Madrid – The corporate leaders of the tourism sector across the globe are pleased to announce that they now have their own business school created especially for them. JSF Travel & Tourism School, a school specialising in executive education for the travel and tourism industry, promoted by the leaders of the tourism industry, created with the aim of having a positive and lasting impact on the people and companies associated with a sector that generates 9.8% of global GDP.
Fundación Junípero Serra, along with the active support of important international corporations such as Hotelbeds Group, Barceló Group, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, Riu Hotels & Resorts, Deloitte, Amadeus, Apple Leisure Group, Catenon and BBVA, is responsible for setting the scheme in motion, geared towards providing the sector with an initiative that can unify the different subsectors of the market at an international level, thus maximising the exchange of experiences and know-how between tourism market players from all over the world.
To achieve its purpose, JSF Travel & Tourism School is supported by the active cooperation of two world-famous schools, IESE Business School and The Wharton School, with which it is designing an academic programme. This association will see its fruits in 2017, with the launch of two ambitious senior management programmes: the Senior Executive Program for the Travel & Tourism Industry, which will be held by IESE in New York, Hong Kong and Mallorca; and the JSF / Wharton Travel & Tourism Innovation Program, offered in Silicon Valley, San Francisco. Likewise, Universia will also play a key role in the relationship with universities to attract talent to the tourism sector.
Jaime Fluxá, President of JSF T&T School, affirms that, ‘The school has been created with the purpose of becoming a world reference within the tourism industry, at both an academic level (graduate studies and executive education), and in regard to research and entrepreneurial support, with the guarantee of knowing it comes from within the industry itself’. Antonio Peña, the Director of the Business School, adds, ‘Our mission is to attract talent towards the travel and tourism industry sector and develop it within a framework of social responsibility, having a positive impact on people, companies and society. We are investing in our people’.
Acting in representation of the School’s trustees, Javier Abadía, Corporate Marketing Director of Grupo Barceló, assures, ‘The business sector has created this project with great excitement and is focused towards gradually becoming the international reference of the tourism sector with a global and cross-sectional vocation, unifying the different subsectors that make up our industry. As the representative of the tourism board and the tourism industry, I would like to transmit our satisfaction and our maximum commitment with the foundation’s project’.
For three intensive weeks in New York (February 2017), Hong Kong (April 2017) and Mallorca (June 2017), the programme, Senior Executive Program for the Travel and Tourism Industry, will gather Presidents, Managing Directors and, in general, the senior management of the main tourism corporations so they can address the main challenges of the industry, which exist in an environment marked by uncertainty, globalisation and digital transformation.
On the other hand, the JSF / Wharton Travel & Tourism Innovation Program will imply becoming immersed for a week in management strategies for the innovation of tourism companies within the creative environment of Silicon Valley in San Francisco. The people responsible for technology and the innovation management of the large tourism groups and leading businesses of the sector will turn into the protagonists of the change and the new business models that are emerging.
JSF Travel & Tourism School is a global and dynamic project. The academic activities will be developed where they have more market sense and can offer greater value to the students. The master guides used to design the programmes are the flexibility and customisation of the experience.
