The refurbishment of the Frobisher rooms and Level 4 was part of a wider development during the summer and the Fabulously Barbican event ensured the new-look spaces were showcased to many meetings and events professionals. Those attending the event included the likes of Sony, BBC, Vodafone, HBAA and Capita.

“We want to strengthen the connection between the Centre’s main conference and meeting facilities with its art spaces and the event certainly helped us showcase these developments, in particular the way the spaces flow together and create a seamless event experience,” commented Jackie Boughton, Head of Events at the Barbican. “The idea of our Fabulously Barbican evening was to give guests a real taste of what they could expect from hosting a meeting, conference or event at the Centre. It was a wonderful night and it was great to network with some of the industry’s finest professionals. The success of the evening certainly shows the Barbican is a much-loved venue and I’m very excited that these developments will offer even more to the events offering here.”

The event itself started in the Conservatory Terrace on Level 4 of the Barbican for drinks before guests enjoyed a showcase tour of the developments around the Frobisher Rooms. The tour finished in the Conservatory where guests could network whilst enjoying canapes and champagne.

Victoria Morrison, Gorkana’s Head of Events & Marketing Manager commented: “Coming to the Barbican feels special, it is steeped in the arts and history. Coming here is not like any other event, it is a special moment in time and not just because it is an architect’s paradise. We use it regularly for events as the auditorium is one of the best and largest in the City. We trust the people, in fact the staff make it what it is and we will continue to return, particularly after the refurbishment which has added significant value to the product.”

Edward Poland, co-founder of Hire Space added: “The Barbican has always been a stunning venue but the refurbishment has added a real element of sophistication and we expect to return time and again with a variety of clients from the professional services, retail, legal and marketing sectors.  Above all else though it is the staff that continually impress and deliver, ensuring we receive consistently positive feedback from clients.”
