INCON, the dynamic partnership of the world’s leading conference, association and event management companies met in Gothenburg 3-6 November for its annual University and Leadership retreat. The meeting was organised and hosted by the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre with its hotel Gothia Towers as well as Gothenburg & Co.
The meeting gathered a broad group of key international and local stakeholders to discuss recent trends in the organisation of medical meetings. The organizers were delighted to welcome Martin Jensen, Co-President of the International Pharmaceutical Congress Advisory Association (IPCAA) who addressed issues such as compliance and the interaction between industry and medical societies. Professor Olle Larkö from Sahlgrenska University Hospital and former board member of EADV also participated as a judge for the INCON University workshops.
The attendees had the opportunity to network with their peers and experience the highlights of the wonderful city of Gothenburg, the draw of the impressive interconnected Gothia Towers, with 1,200 hotel rooms and the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre.
Inge Hanser, Managing Director of CPO Hanser Service and and Co-Chair of INCON states, “Gothenburg is a fabulous conference city. It is not surprising that it ranks as one of the largest organiser of events and conferences in the whole of Scandinavia. The INCON team enjoyed a warm welcome from our Swedish hosts and devoured the wonderful culinary specialities and magnificent landscape. I think the unique city-centre location in close proximity to the sea and international airport will be a draw for many of our international meetings.”
Camilla Nyman, CEO of Göteborg & Co, the Destination Marketing Organisation which includes Gothenburg Convention Bureau, says, “Gothenburg has gained an excellent reputation as a meetings city over the past 30 years. The city’s success is based on our ability to partner and collaborate with clients, hotels, restaurants, industry and the academic world. It’s been a great privilege to give INCON a taste of what Gothenburg has to offer the association organizers.”
Carin Kindbom, President and CEO of the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre Group, says, “Our vision is to become Europe’s most attractive venue by offering the best overall experience. We were delighted to welcome the INCON team to the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre, and our everything-under-one-roof concept, from hotels, spa, restaurants and art galleries to different kinds of meeting areas.”
