FOOD FOR THOUGHT

foodforthoughtChefs at one of the UK’s hottest hotels have come up with a novel way to help workers beat the “post business lunch lull” – by designing a special menu to keep them awake in the boardroom.

The Vincent Hotel, in Southport, has created its “Food for Thought” menu option for meeting and conference organisers hosting events at the venue.
The menu includes a combination of sushi and sashimi dishes, which are high in protein, B-Vitamins and minerals like selenium, as well as Omega-3 fatty acids.

The nutrients included are scientifically proven to help increase concentration, raise energy levels and sharpen memory function, helping delegates feel alert for the afternoon’s actions.

Head chef Martin Quinlan, said: “We’ve all experienced that mid-afternoon slump just after lunchtime when you feel exhausted and can barely keep your eyes open.
“Among conference organisers, the period immediately after lunch is well-known as the Graveyard Slot, because people are the least attentive.

“Most companies don’t help the depth of the dip by feeding corporates with sandwiches and other foods which lie heavily on the digestive system. These foods quickly release sugar into the bloodstream, causing blood sugar levels and energy to plummet later on in the day.
“However with sushi/sashimi containing the nutrients to keep energy levels elevated, it will ensure that the afternoon’s performance is just as productive as the mornings.

“At the Vincent we’re always keen to offer our guests a little something extra and feedback from our corporate clients has shown that our new ‘food for thought’ is the ideal way to keep delegates engaged from 9 to 5.”

The brand new dining experience is just the latest addition to the hotel’s internationally inspired menu choices for corporate events.
The Vincent offers a dedicated team of experienced conference advisers to help firms organise and cater for events of any size.

The hotel provides three private rooms varying in size from 16m² to 72m² for the V-Grand Galleria, which seats up to 200 delegates.
